Never Alone

Into The Darkest Corner
Elizabeth Haynes
Fiction

Though the plot of this book wasn’t really my scene, it did keep me interested enough to make it through to the end.

Into The Darkest Corner is about Cathy, a personnel manager who lives in London. She meets Lee, a tall, handsome club bouncer and finds herself falling in love, even though Lee’s intensity and secret-keeping annoy her. Eventually, Cathy finds out the hard way what a psycho Lee is. A few years later, she’s moved on with her life and meets another guy who has potential. But then she finds out Lee is getting released and knows he’s coming after her again. But this time she might just know how to handle him.

It took awhile for me to get used to the back and forth timeline. There are no chapters, either, just sections that state the date. So we start in December 2004, then switch to December 2008, then it’s back to 2004 in the next section and so on and so on. It’s quite jarring at first, but once you get into the book you can gloss over it. You feel sorry for Cathy in the beginning and then you just want her to kick Lee’s ass.

If you’re into thrillers and psychological warfare novels, this one’s for you. Otherwise, you might find it too dark, like I did.
